Factory WiFi Solution

The client brief

Our client, a Yorkshire-based manufacturing company, was in the process of implementing a SAP ERP/MRP solution. As part of this investment in the operational efficiency of the business, they wanted to be able to use Honeywell HHTs, mobile computers and label printers on the factory floor, and so they needed reliable WiFi. Our brief was to provide WiFi coverage in the factory and offices, such that they could roam around freely. The factory area was 40,000 sq. ft. with offices split over two floors.

Our solution

As usual with this type of project, we started start with a WiFi survey to understand the wireless characteristics of the property. We then use WiFi planning software to work out the number and optimum placement of access points around the factory and offices. In this case we chose to use cloud-managed access points from Cambium Networks.
